Do you hit your child? Or someone in your family has this habit of hitting their child? Do you take pride in saying “A little beating is good for children”? Then you need to mend this ill-habit of yours, because according to social ethics, hitting your child can affect him mentally and emotionally. A child’s heart is as fragile as a bud. If you’ll hit him or talk to him in utter high tone, he will never acknowledge you as his friend. And being a parent, if your child never finds a friend in you, it is your biggest defeat as a parent. There are many more reasons which clearly indicates that one should not be hitting his child. This applies equally to teachers as well.

1. It teaches wrong social norm
When you hit your child and think it is a part of loving him, this will make him think that beating is necessary for relationships. If you’re too much into beating your child, then your child is going to hate his childhood memories. There’s nothing more brutal than having a twisted childhood.

2. They fell into this misconception is that the one who is stronger is always right.
If you want your child to learn something, then beating him is not a good idea. Because while you’re teaching your child a lesson by beating him, you’re making him think that the one who’s big and strong is always right.

3. It teaches them that elders have all the right to beat the younger ones
When you hit your child you’re making him realise that one who is elder and stronger is the one who can dominate. They begin thinking that they can beat their further younger ones. If you’re doing all this to bring discipline in your children, then think how you’ll feel when he’ll grow up and hit his own wife/children in front of you.

4. It teaches that violence is the only solution for every problem in the world
Hitting your children also establishes a misconception that violence can be the sole solution to each and every problem in the world. When such children grow up, they learn that bullying someone is the best way to get your work done.

5. It affects their self-confidence
If you want to see your kid growing as a confident person, then hitting him is a not a good idea. You’re the one who should be protecting them. and if you somehow become the one who’s being violent with him, he will lose his self-confidence.

6. He can be affected by a mental illness
A child is too fragile to bear any mental trauma. Even a study revealed that the kids who are being beaten in order to be taught discipline can experience any mental disorder later in their life. That’s why think twice or thrice before taking such an action against him. Any psychiatric problem will not show initially, but it can resurface later.
