7 Useful Facebook Settings to Protect Your Account from Hackers

1. Prevent the Facebook Ads from Pestering You
You can prevent seeing the ads on your Facebook account. Facebook tracks down what you look and shop online. So, for promotions, they flash similar kinds of ads on your homepage. To disable this feature, go to your Settings>Ads. You will see an option ‘Ads based on my use of websites and apps’. Click on ‘Edit’ on the extreme right side of the screen. Select ‘Off’.

2. You can disable the ‘Seen’ option in your Facebook Messenger
Want to get rid of that ‘seen’ feature from your Facebook messenger? Simply download an extension called ‘Facebook Unseen’ on your chrome. This will block the ‘read receipt’.

3. Hide Your Email Address on Your Profile
To hide your email from your profile, go to your profile. Click on ‘About’ tab. On the left column, click on ‘Contact and Basic Info’. In the ‘Email’ section, you will see two buttons on the right side of the email id. Click on the button on the extreme right side. Click on the option ‘Hidden from Timeline’. Click on ‘Save Changes’ to save this setting. Your email won’t be visible on your profile.

4. Block Unwanted People On Facebook
If you don’t want to chat with an irritating contact on Facebook, then you can block the unwanted person from contacting you on Facebook. You just have to go to your chat section on the right side of your window. Go to the advanced settings. In the ‘Turn off chat for only some friends’ tab, type the name of the friend you don’t want to chat with.

5. Make Your Profile Picture Unclickable
Some people stalk your Facebook profile. So to avoid people viewing your profile picture, you can make your profile picture unclickable. Click on your profile picture and locate the tiny globe sign on the top right corner of the window. Click on it. Select the option ‘Friends’.

6. Protect Your Profile from Strangers
If you wish to see how your profile looks to the strangers. Go to your profile. Click on the three dots given right beside the ‘Activity log’. Select ‘View as’ from the drop-down menu. You will be able to see how your profile looks like to the strangers.

7. Post to Facebook Without Opening Facebook
You can use the ‘post by email’ feature to post your pictures and status without using the Facebook. Click on the ‘Settings’ and on the left side of the screen, click on ‘Mobile’. At the end of your mobile information, you will see a ‘post by email’ option. This option will work only when you’ve enabled Facebook text notification.
