Makhana kheer recipe is a very simple dessert recipe made with milk, cashews, ghee, and makhana. So, this Navratri, try this mouth-watering recipe at home and enjoy with your family and friends.

Ingredients needed for makhana kheer recipe:

  • Makhana (lotus seed pops)- 250 grams
  • Sugar- 120 grams
  • Milk- 500 ml
  • Cashew- 8 (chopped)
  • Ghee- 4 tablespoons
  • Saffron- 1 pinch
  • Almonds- 8 (chopped)
  • Cardamom powder- as required
  • Saffron- few strands

Now, how to make makhana kheer:

  • First, take a pan and heat ghee on low flame.
  • Now, add the cashews, almonds, and makhana to the pan and roast till they turn golden in color.
  • Then, keep them aside.
  • Take a deep-bottomed pan and add milk to it and boil.
  • After that, reserve 1/4th of the roasted almonds, cashews, and makhana and add the remaining to the blender jar.
  • Now, grind them until they are powdered.
  • In the meantime, add cardamom powder, saffron, sugar, and makhana powder.
  • Then, stir all the ingredients for one minute.
  • Add the remaining makhana and dry fruit mixture to the pan and mix.
  • Keep stirring in between for 10 minutes till the makhana becomes soft.
  • After that, let it simmer for few minutes.
  • And your makhana kheer is ready.
