No Matter How Hard the Path Gets, I’ll Walk Along…I’ m a Woman!

James and I had a mild argument last night. Why?

Well, he thinks it was the pencil skirt, pretty chandelier earrings and heels that got the girl sitting next to him the job he was up for interviewing too. Really?  I don’t think it was the pencil skirt or the heels or the earrings but her portfolio that managed to impress the recruiters.

The entire conversation and argumentation with James last night had actually made me ponder how vitally our attire affects those around us. Very well dressed lady on top notch post simply translates into ‘look pretty and get the promotion’. And this is such an appallingly painful scenario!

Tanishq’s MIA advertisement so beautifully advocates the fact, ‘as beautiful as your work’ which many men and even women seem to ignore in our so called modern, progressive world. Don’t understand why! When I came across the Mia Blog contest from co, I made up my mind to share my opinion as a lady! Although, I am not much of a writer but I am writing this blog as a tribute not one but to all those incredibly beautiful and intelligent women who have shaped my life.

  1. Grade 5 teacher, Miss Arora: Intellectual and beautiful as her work !

Now married with two cute children, she taught me how to form sentences while I couldn’t even spell a single English word correctly. Her hard work paid off and I scored 85 out of 100 in Class 5 English annual.

  1. Grade 7, Bestie, Nupur Jain: Fun and courageous as her work!

Now a dance instructor with a lovely 5 month old baby, it was her courage to be herself, her honesty and her free expression of how she felt, regardless of how harshly she will be judged…

  1. Grade 12, soul sister, Kulle: My portrait Muse model, as gorgeous as her work!

While we were on our portrait shoots, she taught me everything that a local delhite should know!! From roadside gol gappa treats to weekly Sarojini trips; this godmother of mine is responsible for all my savings.

  1. College spirit guide, Himika: As beautiful as the hills she hails from!

Hazel eyed himachal beauty, Himika introduced me to the mystique of the hills, the hills that humble us and the nature that nurtures our world. She is my Nature and spirit guide..

  1. Finally, My lifeline, my mother, my aunt and all those beautiful women out there!

My mother is the demi-goddess of will, courage and independence and of course, spontaneity. All her life, through thick and thin, she has been strong, never compromising to give up but to fight just like my aunt, who also never gave up no matter how harsh things got.

And all those women who pass me by every day, work with me, women I take photos of or become friends in weird and strange circumstances are those who keep me going, give me hope and make me realize everyday that we are as beautiful as our work.
