Bread Besan Toast Recipe

Bread besan toast is just another breakfast/appetizer recipe which you can prepare even if you have just 15-20 minutes in your hand. The ingredients used for making this recipe are the staples of almost every Indian kitchen. If you have never tried these then you should. These besan toasts are a vegetarian and savoury version of the famous French toast and they taste amazing.

So without any further due let’s get started with the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Gram flour/besan- 1 cup
  • Bread slice- 4-5 (any bread of your choice)
  • Onion- 1, medium sized (finely chopped)
  • Tomato- 1 medium sized (finely chopped)
  • Green chillies- 1-2 (finely chopped)
  • Turmeric powder- ½ tsp.
  • Fresh coriander- 2 tbsp. (chopped)
  • Red chilli powder- ¼ tsp.
  • Salt to taste
  • Water to make batter (medium consistency)
  • Oil for cooking

Procedure:

  1.  In a bowl, add the onions, tomatoes, green chillies and fresh coriander.
  2.  Now add the gram flour, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt. Add the water and whisk the batter to make a medium consistency batter. Make sure there are no lumps in the batter.
  3.  Slice the bread into triangles or rectangles. Heat a non-stick pan and add some oil to it. Dip the sliced bread in the gram flour batter so that it is well coated. Place the batter dipped bread on the hot pan and cook on a medium flame.
  4.  Cook the bread on one side until it is golden brown in colour and then flip it gently to cook the other side as well.
  5.  Remove from the pan. Prepare all the bread slices similarly.
  6.  Serve your bread besan toast hot with chai and ketchup.
