Amidst the mild drizzles and cold monsoon breeze, the auspicious month of Sawan is set to begin from 20th of this month. This is a month of absolute devoutness and purity according to Hindu mythology. Every Monday of this month is observed as fast by many people and offerings are made to Lord Shiva. A whole lot of crowd emerges at the Shiva Temples around the country. Some people even leave their house for a Kanwar Yatra to impress Lord Shiva, to offer holy water to Lord Shiva. Some people even offer milk infused with 5 pure ingredients to Lord Shiva. This month is of absolute importance amongst the rest of the months of the year, as it is believed that prayers offered to Lord Shiva during this month are more fruitful. So, we should offer our prayers to Lord Shiva with utter devotion and patience during the holy month of Sawan.

Today we’re going to tell you some ways to impress Lord Shiva in this month of Sawan.
1. Maintain peace and calm within your family. Distress and conflicts often create an air of poverty in the family. This is why any discord should be completely abolished during this month. You shouldn’t indulge in any kind of argument with the elders of your family. Refrain from using foul language. Offer your prayers to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati for a happy married life.

2. Follow Satvikta(Humility) during this month. Lord Shiva is said to be coordinating the works of the Gods of all three worlds during Sawan, so you should avoid alcohol and non-veg during this month.
3. You should offer holy water to Shiva Linga daily in the morning. This reduces the effects of the ill deeds of your past life. The offerings made during the sunrise reaches straightaway to Lord Shiva, according to scriptures.

5. You shouldn’t consume Brinjals during Sawan. It is said that brinjals are often contaminated with pests and other microorganisms during the month of Sawan. So consumption of brinjals is inhibited during monsoons.

6. Never insult Lord Shiva during this month, in fact during any month of the year. Help those who’re going for the Kaavad Yatra to pay your homage to Lord Shiva.

7. You shouldn’t consume green leafy vegetables during Sawan. It can be harmful to your health.
8. If you find a stray animal standing at your gate, never shoo them away. Instead, give them something to eat. Abusing animals is no less than insulting the Lord Shiva itself.

9. Stay away from uncontrolled anger during this month. Respect your elders and refrain from using ill words on them. this month is perfect for devoting your mind and energy in the worship of Lord Shiva. So we just have to say this to you, never let your efforts down and stay hopeful.
