Who isn’t a fan of the dusky long legged Bollywood diva Shilpa Shetty? Maybe the insane ones. Shilpa Shetty is one of the finest and loved actresses of the 90’s. From her acting to her dance moves, she has garnered appreciation for it all.

But the Shilpa Shetty we see today is very different from the one we saw in the 90’s. She looks much more beautiful, fit and toned right now and this has happened because of a huge change that she made into her life. And that change was to adopt yoga. It is a worldwide known fact that Shilpa is an avid follower of yoga. Her love for yoga is so much that she has her own yoga DVD which she released in the year 2007 both in the UK and India.

But the actress was not exactly like this while growing up or when she initially joined the Bollywood. Shilpa was into sports while in school and also represented the Mumbai zone five times in volleyball. So when she entered the Bollywood in 1993 she had quite an athletic body as compared to the other actresses. But if compared with today’s perfect actress body standards she was a little chubby. So as soon as she entered the Bollywood she started going to the gym for maintaining a toned body.

After her stint in the Bollywood Shilpa kind of vanished from the big screen and made a comeback with the UK’s version of the TV show “Big Brother”. Shilpa was in the limelight once again for two things, not falling a victim to the racist attacks that happened in the Big Brother house and for practicing yoga while in there. It was after that Shilpa released her yoga DVD making her the first Indian celebrity to do so. Before her, no Indian celebrity has released a DVD especially dedicated to fitness or yoga in general.

Though there are some tips that the actress swears by and applies in her daily life as well as suggest others to do the same.
- Commitment is the key to a healthy life. You cannot follow a routine for a week or a month and then expect changes. You have to make in a lifelong part in order to benefit from it.
- Have lemon juice with the warm water first thing in the morning, followed by breakfast between 8am to 9am. Your lunch should be done between 12 pm to 1 pm and dinner between 7:30 pm to 8 pm. Avoid eating raw food items after 6 pm.
- Sleep for 6-8 hours.
- Cook with oils that are produced in our country.
- Swap white food items with browns. Such as white rice with brown rice and white bread with brown bread, etc.
- Swap cow’s milk with buffalo’s milk as it has more iron content in it.
- Have a cheat day and indulge in your favourite food items without any guilt.
For the actress it has never been about being skinny, it is about eating and living healthy. At 41 and being a mother of a five-year-old, Shilpa Shetty is an inspiration to all the people who want to start a healthy life. And if this cannot inspire you then nothing else could.
