How to Make Chicken Tikka in Easy Steps

Chicken Tikka is a traditional and most loved dish amongst all the chicken lovers. The mouth-watering and sumptuous dish is spurting out a blend of flavours and colours. The term ‘Tikka’ here means tiny bits or chunks of Chicken marinated in a special mixture of spices and yoghurt. They are grilled till they become brown and tender.

You can also add some gravy to make Chicken Tikka Masala which can be had as a main course dish. You can also use food colour to impart a bright orange hue to the grilled chicken. Usage of food colour is, however, optional. You can also use a good quality Kashmiri Red Chilli powder to yield a vibrant colour to your dish.

Ingredients

  • 300 gm Boneless Chicken
  • For Marination:
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/4th tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • For Second Marination:
  • 3-4 tbsp. cooking oil
  • 2 tbsp. gram flour
  • 1 cup yoghurt
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/4th tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2th tsp Garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Chicken Tikka?

1. First of all, chop the boneless chicken into small cubes.

2. Now prepare the Marination mixture with ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, salt and lemon juice.

3. Dip the chicken cubes in this mixture. Keep it aside for 1-2 hours.

4. Heat some oil in a pan.

5. Add the ajwain seeds and some gram flour.

6. Sauté it for few minutes on low flame. Turn the flame off.

7. Add this roasted gram flour to a bowl with yoghurt.

8. Add red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, salt, turmeric and Garam masala. Mix it well.

9. Whisk it until it becomes a smooth paste.

10. Add few drops of cooking oil to it.

11. Now add the chicken pieces to this mixture.

12. Keep it in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours.

13. Soak the skewers in water for 15 minutes.

14. Now take those marinated chicken pieces out and pierce them into skewers one by one.

15. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius.

16. Keep the chicken loaded skewers in the oven.

17. Cook it until it becomes brown and tender.

18. Check time to time, whether the chicken is cooked or not.

19. Your tasty and spicy Chicken Tikka is ready.

20. Serve it hot with Mint Raita. You can add onion rings for garnishing.
