-

Childhood memories renewed? If you were born and brought up in UP, you must be knowing that the temperatures crosses 45 every year. And to beat this heat, we seek help from some of our traditional drinks. One of them being Almond Sharbat. If you don’t know what Almond Sharbat is, then we can tell you how to make this refreshing drink for yourself and your family. It takes mere 30 minutes to be prepared.

Ingredients:

  • Sugar 4 cups
  • ½ cup almonds
  • ½ tsp saffron
  • 15-20 cardamoms
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 lemon

How to make Almond Sharbat?

  1.  Soak the almonds in water for at least 2 hours. The longer you’ll soak the better the syrup will be.
  2.  Similarly, soak the musk melon seeds as well. Boil some sugar in water. Add lemon to it while it’s boiling. Make a syrup of single thread consistency.
  3.  Remove the froth which has been formed due to lemon in sugar. Add saffron strands to it. Keep the syrup aside to cool down.
  4.  Peel the cardamoms and make a powder out of it in a grinder.
  5.  Drain the soaked almonds and musk melon seeds and peel them. Keep them in the fridge for cooling. Grind the almond and musk melon seeds in a grinder without adding water.
  6.  Mix the above-prepared sugar syrup with the almond and musk melon seeds paste. Add the powdered cardamom.
  7. . Transfer the contents into an airtight jar. You can use it for up to 1 month when refrigerated.
