How to Measure Bra Size?
Generally, there are two different styles of measuring bra size.
- Modern Method: The modern measurement style is being adopted by many international and foreign brands. So if you are looking for an international lingerie brand, make sure you follow this method.
- Traditional Method: India still goes with the traditional style. It is one of the most popular and proven ways to calculate the exact bra size. Let’s have a look how to hedge the bets:
The Traditional Method – Bra Sizing Guide and Steps :-
Step-1
Grab a measuring tape:
Get a measuring tape and then put on a comfortable bra which neither constricts nor enhances your true bust size. Don’t forget that you’re looking for the right size bra! Right means ACCURATE here!
Step-2
Measure your Band Size.
Holding the measuring tape firmly but gently, wrap it around the ribcage, just beneath where the breast tissue ends. Make sure you expel all the air from lungs and the tape is straight and parallel to the ground. Don’t forget to round off all the fractional measurements. Then,
- If your measurement is even, add 4 inches (10 centimeters).
- If your measurement is odd, add 5 inches (12.5 centimeters)
Step-3
Measure your Bust Size:
Stay standing up and using the tape, measure around the fullest part of your bust. (Don’t frget to keep the tape horizontal and make sure it is not sagging around the back). Again, round off all the fractional measurements.
Step-4
Get the Cup Size: Minus your band size( After adding 4 or 5 to make it even) from the Bust Size number to calculate the cup size:
- Less than 1 inch = AA
- 1 inch (2.5 cm) = A
- 2 inches (5 cm) = B
- 3 inches (7.5 cm) = C
- 4 inches (10 cm) = D
- 5 inches (12.5 cm) = DD
- 6 inches (15 cm) = DDD/E
- 7 inches (18 cm) = DDDD/F
- 8 inches (20.5) = G/H/FF
- 9 inches (23 cm) = I/J/G
- 10 inches (25.5 cm) = J/GG
