We have seen women are always considered as less capable than men since ages. But with the passage of time, things have changed. All the stronger, more responsible and independent women now have a dream that they want to achieve and today they are no less than men irrespective of the area they are working in. And when we talk about glamour world, it is that one place which is dominated by the Indian women and they are doing really well.
Barriers and discriminations still exist but a few women fought against all odds and fulfilled their dreams. In this article, we have shared stories of a few ladies who are leading the glamour world.

1. Ritu Beri

Ritu is an internationally acclaimed fashion designer who is also the first Indian to present the Couture Show in Paris in the year 1998. She completed her graduation in Art of Fashion from National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi. Later, she launched her own label in India in the year 1990. Her client list not only includes known names from India but abroad too which includes, Madhuri Dixit, Honourable Minister Sushma Swaraj, Bill Clinton and Prince Charles of Wales. Ritu has actively taken part in the social causes and charities and she also owns a charity named as Blessed Hearts Foundation. The main aim of this foundation is to improve the condition of underprivileged children of India and create awareness about autism among people.
2. Padma Lakshmi

Padma Lakshmi is an author, executive producer, model and host of the famous reality program Top Chef for which she has acquired nomination for Primetime Emmy Award. She was just 18 when she started her career as a model in Spain. And after this, she became the first Indian to own a career in Milan, Paris and New York. She also worked with the top international designers which include, Gianni Versace, Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani and much more. Padma has even got featured on the covers of Vogue India, Cosmopolitan, Redbook etc. After getting immense success in modelling she also got a chance to act in many Hollywood movies. She is also a social contributor and owns a foundation named as The Endometriosis Foundation of America which is aimed at increasing awareness, education, research against the disease.

3. Priyanka Chopra

She was only eighteen when she won the title of Miss World. After that, she began her career with a Tamil movie Thamizan and soon she made her debut in Bollywood with the movie The Hero in the year 2003. Mujhse Shaadi Karogi was her first commercial success after which, she just mounted the hill of success. Once can witness her noticeable performances in the movie Aitraaz, Fashion, Barfi, Fashion, and Dostana. A few years back she took her success to next level with her singing debut on an international level. And in the year 2015, she bagged the role of Alex Parrish for the show Quantico. Since then she has made appearances on famous talk shows which include The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, The Ellen Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live. And recently she made her debut in Hollywood movies with Baywatch.
4. Mira Nair

She is a very well-known Indian-American filmmaker who has showcased cultural, social, economic spheres of Indian society with her work to the international audiences. Initially, she started as an actor during her college days at Harvard University. Mira made her mark in filmmaking with her best-crafted documentary ‘So Far From India’ which was the story based on the life of an Indian newspaper dealer in the subways of New York and his pregnant wife. This amazing masterpiece made Nair earn the awards for Best Documentary at the New York’s Global Film Festival and American Film Festival. She has produced many thought-provoking movies which include, Monsoon Wedding and Mississippi Masala. She also directed the Golden Globe winning movie Hysterical Blindness and she was even offered to direct Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix. And she is also the recipient of Padma Bhushan.

5. Freida Pinto

While India is celebrating the success of Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone at Hollywood we have almost forgotten this Mumbai girl who got acclaimed internationally for her performance in the blockbuster British movie Slumdog Millionaire which bagged a lot of Oscars. Although, Pinto didn’t get any nomination at the Oscars but earned herself The Breakthrough Performance Award at the Palm Spring International Film Festival, Guild Award for outstanding performance and a nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting role at BAFTA. Since then she acted in many Hollywood movies and also emerged as a fashion icon in Hollywood because of her amazing red-carpet appearances. She also got featured on World’s Most Beautiful People, People Magazine and World’s Best Dressed Women in the year 2009.
