Seviyan Recipe (Dessert Recipe)

Seviyan is a classic dessert that most of us can relate to since we have all grown up eating this sweet delicacy. It is one of those desserts which is very regularly made at my home simply because it is super easy to prepare and takes just about 15-20 minutes to get ready. So today I am going to share with you this super simple recipe of meethi seviyan and let’s get started with the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Vermicelli/seviyan- 1 cup
  • Milk- 500 ml
  • Sugar- ¼ cup
  • Ghee- 1 tbsp.
  • Cardamom powder- ½ tsp.
  • Milk powder- ¼ cup
  • Raisins/kishmish- 10-12
  • Almonds- 5-6 (thinly sliced)
  • Pistachios-5-6 (thinly sliced)
  • Cashews- 5-6 (thinly sliced)

Procedure:

  1.  Heat a pan or kadhai, add 1 tbsp. ghee to it. Once the ghee has warmed up and melted, ad d the broken vermicelli to the ghee and on a low flame roast the vermicelli until golden brown in colour. Make sure that you roast the vermicelli on a medium flame.
  2.  Once the vermicelli is cooked add the chopped dry fruits and stir everything really well.
  3.  Now lower the flame and add the milk to the seviyan. You can also cook the seviyan in water if you want to.
  4.  Continue to stir the seviyan for 2-3 minutes.
  5.  Add the sugar and keep stirring the seviyan.
  6.  Now add the milk powder and the cardamom powder. Stir again.
  7.  Once the vermicelli has absorbed all the milk turn off the flame.
  8.  Serve the seviyan warm or cold depending on your preference.
