Misal pav recipe is a traditional Maharashtrian recipe which is very simple and easy-to-prepare. This recipe is full of flavours that one prefers in a snack. You can also prepare this dish for the various occasions like kitty parties or family celebrations. So, try out this recipe at home and brace yourself for the compliments for preparing this dish.

Ingredients needed for misal pav recipe:

Olive oil- 2 tablespoons
Onion (chopped)- 1 cup
Coconut (grated)- 1/2 cup
Coriander leaves (chopped)- 4 tablespoons
Cumin seeds- 1 teaspoon
Clove- 2
Peppercorns- 2
Cinnamon stick- 1
Dry red chilli- 1
Garlic clove- 2
Tomato (chopped)- 1/2 cup
Turmeric- 2 pinches
Matki sprouts- 1/4th cup
Safed vatana (boiled)- 1/4th cup
Green moong dal- 1/4th cup (soaked)
Chawli (boiled)- 1 tablespoon
Chilli powder- 1/2 teaspoon
Salt- as per requirement
Pav- 4
Lemon wedges- 2 tablespoons

Now, how to make misal pav:

First, take a large non-stick pan and heat some oil.
Now, add grated coconut to it.
Cook them on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
Then, add peppercorns and cloves to the pan.
After that add cumin seeds and coriander powder.
Saute them for few seconds.
Now, add garlic cloves and cinnamon stick with dry red chilli.
Again, mix all the ingredients and saute for 5 minutes.
Then, remove the pan from the flame and keep it aside.
Once it’s cool, transfer it to a blender jar and form a smooth powder.
Take a pressure cooker and heat some oil in it.
Add the remaining cumin seeds to the cooker.
Once it starts to crackle, add the chopped onions.
Cook till it becomes translucent in color.
Now, add the prepared masala and saute for a minute.
Then, add turmeric powder, chopped tomatoes with some water.
Mix all the ingredients nicely and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
Don’t forget to stir occasionally.
After that add moong dal sprouts, chawli, safed vatana, and matki.
Mix all the ingredients again and add 1 cup of hot water.
Add some salt to it and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
Now, open the lid and add coriander and chilli powder.
Simmer it for 5 minutes.
Then, turn off the flame.
Serve it hot with pav and lemon wedges.
Your misal pav is ready.
