For most of the Muslim families, Eid has become more or less like a twice yearly routine. They just have to get up, pray Fajr, have breakfast, go for Eid prayers, wish each other, go out, eat a lot and get lots of money. End of the day. This year, why don’t you try something different to make your Eid the most memorable one. Enjoy the special break you get. Break the routine and spend some gala time with your family and loved ones. So here are few ideas to celebrate Eid and make it special than ever!

1. Plan everything in advance.
You can organise a meeting for your family a day or two before the festival and decide about the special happenings for the Eid. Ask for their ideas and go for what seems to be the best. Include the kids as well. distribute the cooking responsibilities over everyone instead of piling everything on mom. And make sure that every single person of the family gets to enjoy the day, including your mom.

2. Clean your house and decorate it
Let everyone know that you’re in a celebration mood! Get everyone on the job. When you’ll be working together on something, you people will effortlessly grow closer to each other. Make your house sparkling clean. Involve the kids in the decoration ritual. They’re going to enjoy it a lot. Put a song on a DVD player so that everyone can hum to it while doing the job.

3. Make some special cuisines
Don’t make anything that your family normally eats. Go offbeat this time. Make something special and different from your everyday meal.

4. Organise a gift exchange program
Write the name of your family members on a chit. Whoever picks out the name of a person has to buy that person a gift. And note that, the babies will get the gifts from everyone.

5. Make the kids make gifts for each other
Ask them to prepare an arts or craft for the person they like to gift to. they will enjoy making a gift for their favourite member. Plus, they are heartfelt and cheap as well. you can also save the useless trip to the market.

6. Buy new clothes
Kids will not like the Eid if they are made to wear the same Salwar Kameez they did last year. Get something new for them. you can also prepare some nice clothes for them at home if you’re good at stitching.

7. Arrange a sort of garage sale
This might sound a bit weird but it is interesting. Arrange a garage sale so that family members can sell the goods they have outgrown or can donate those to the homeless kids.

8. Wash the Car
What’s the point going in a dirty car to go for the Eid prayers? You won’t like your new clothes getting dirt sitting in a dirty car. Get the vehicle clean and Eid-ready. Fill the gas tank so that you don’t have to face any unpleasant surprise on the day.

9. Look for those who are alone or away from their family and invite them over
The true spirit of Eid lies in togetherness. You will find some people standing alone or who don’t have their family in the city. Invite them to your home for a meal.

10. Donate your extra Eid food to an orphanage or a shelter home
Do some charity by donating your extra food and other things to the children at the orphanage or shelter home. You know very well what it remains hungry for days. So you can empathise with their pain as well.
