1. Nothing too flashy or loud- The first rule that you must keep in mind is that you should never wear anything that is too loud or in your face. Such as loud prints and colours, shimmery fabrics, heavy jewellery, loud makeup and the likes are a strict no-no. Keep your overall look very muted and understated, yet classy and apt for the interview.

2. Choose colours that flatter your body shape- No denying that neutral colours are the best when going for an interview but that does not mean that you cannot wear other colours. In fact, when it comes to the perfect colours for interviews you must keep in mind the colours that actually flatter you and not just the colours that are recommended for such settings. Don’t just stick to black, grey and white. 3. Dress for the industry- Though your dressing depends on the type of business setting you are interviewing for. For example, if you are going for a strict corporate environment then make sure to dress up in a corporate attire such as a pantsuit or trousers and button down shirt. Similarly, if you are going for an interview at a start-up you can dress a little more casually but still appropriately for an interview. 4. Quality over quantity- It is always sensible to invest in quality pieces that will never go out of style and you will be able to wear them forever. Always go for quality over quantity. This way you don’t have to buy new clothes when you are going for an interview all you have to do is get your old one’s dry cleaned and they are ready to be worn.

5. Keep a check on the fitting too- The fitting of the clothes that you are wearing is also of utmost important. If you wear something that is too tight it will be totally inappropriate for an office setting. Similarly, something too loose will make you look slouchy. 6. Don’t do too much- Don’t put in too much of efforts to look a certain way as that may show up in your final look and you may end up looking overdressed. A good thing to do is to try on your interview ensemble a day in advance and see if it looks fine. Remove the pieces that are unwanted and switch the ones that are too loud or overwhelming. This way you can be 100% sure of your look and thus even more confident.
