How to Make Corn Bread Roll

This corn bread roll is not like the run-of-the-mill bread roll we make at home. The filling used here consists of corns instead of potato. The crispy crust of bread makes it a perfect tea time snack. You can serve them hot with the sauce of your choice. Ingredients for Corn Bread Roll

  • 12 bread slices
  • For filling:
  • 1 cup crushed sweet corn
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tsp green chillies chopped
  • ½ cup chopped onions
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • Salt and ground black pepper (As per taste)
  • Other ingredients:
  • 3 tbsp. refined flour
  • Oil for frying

How to Make Corn Bread Roll?

1. Heat some oil in a pan and add green chillies and onion to it. Sauté them for a minute on medium flame.
2. Add the sweet corn, soy sauce, black pepper, salt and then cook the mixture for 1-2 minutes. Cook it till the mixture becomes dry.
3. Keep the mixture aside to let it cool down.
4. Take 5 tbsp. of water in a bowl and add some refined flour to make a slurry. Keep the bowl aside.
5. Remove the sides of the bread slices. Roll the bread slice with a rolling pin like a chapatti.
6. Add 1 tbsp. of filling prepared above to one end of the rolled bread slice. Roll the bread to make a roll.
7. Apply the refined flour slurry on the edges to seal them.
8. Make the rest of the rolls just in the steps mentioned above.
9. Heat some oil in a wok for frying and fry the rolls until they are crisp and brown.
10. Take them out and keep them on a tissue paper to let the oil get absorbed.
11. Cut the rolls diagonally just like the spring rolls. Serve them with a schezwan sauce or a regular tomato ketchup.
