How to Make: Onion Paratha for Breakfast

Preparing something different everyday for the breakfast is something that every woman dreads. There is a time when you actually run out of ideas on what to prepare for breakfast. We Indians are expert at making Parathas with anything as stuffing. So, this time, we’re going to teach you how to make Onion Paratha for the breakfast or a power-packed snack. You can prepare a quick Raita as well to complete the meal.

You can prepare Onion Paratha all round the year, as onions are easily available regardless of the season. So, pull out your notebook and note down the recipe for making Onion Parathas.

Ingredients

For dough:

  • 2 cups whole wheat Atta
  • 1/4th tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • Water to make the dough

For stuffing:

  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 1 green chilli chopped
  • Garam masala as per taste
  • Red chilli powder as per taste
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil for frying the parathas.

How to Make Onion Parathas?

  1.  To prepare the dough, add some salt to the dough and add some ghee. Pour some water and knead the dough. Cover the  dough and keep it aside for 10-15 minutes.
  2.  Prepare the fillings by mixing the chopped onions and green chillies. Keep the filling aside.
  3.  Make the medium sized ball with the dough prepared in the above steps. Roll it into a 3-4-inch roti.
  4.  Add the stuffing in the centre of the rolled dough. Sprinkle some garam masala, red chilli powder and salt on the top.
  5.  Bring the edges of dough together to seal it. Press it at the centre using your palms.
  6.  Sprinkle some flour on the prepared dough and roll it into a paratha until it is 6-8 inches in diameter.
  7.  Heat a tawa on the gas. Place the rolled paratha on the tawa. Add 1-2 tsp of ghee on the paratha. Press the paratha with  a  spoon till it is brown and cooked.
  8.  Serve it hot with some raita or chutney.
  9.  You can enjoy it plain as well, with a cup of tea.
