Paneer Paratha Recipe

Stuffed parathas are one of my favourite things to have in the morning as these are a complete meal in itself. If you think about it then it is just one dish but has so much variety to it because of the different stuffing that you can add to it. Today I am going to share the recipe of paneer paratha. This is one recipe which is prepared at my house very frequently and is a family favourite. So without any further due let’s get started with the recipe.

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • Whole wheat flour- 2 cups
  • Water- 2/3 cup or as per the requirement
  • Ghee/oil- 1 tsp.
  • Salt- ½ tsp.

For the stuffing:

  • Paneer/cottage cheese- 200 grams
  • Green chilli- 1-2 (finely chopped)
  • Red chilli powder- ½ tsp.
  • Garam masala- ½ tsp.
  • Amchur powder- ½ tsp.
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Ghee/oil- for toasting the paratha

Procedure:

  1.  Take the whole wheat flour in a big bowl. Add the salt and oil to it. Mix the three ingredients really well.
  2.  Slowly add water to the flour and start kneading the dough. Knead the dough until it is smooth and soft.
  3.  Cover the dough with a damp cloth and keep aside for 25-20 minutes.
  4.  Grate the paneer. Add the chopped green chilli, powdered spices and salt to it. Mix the stuffing really well. check the  seasoning and add more if required.
  5.  Take a medium sized portion of the dough. Roll it between your palms and keep it on the rolling surface. Flatten it with  your fingers. Dust with some flour and start rolling it with a rolling pin.
  6.  Roll the dough to get a disc which is 4-5 inches in diameter.
  7.  Take a good amount of the paneer stuffing and place it in the middle of the disc. Bring the outer edges in the middle  and  pinch them together to seal the dough ball.
  8.  Flatten the ball with your fingers and again dust with some flour. Roll the dough ball to get a disc which around 7  inches  in diameter.
  9.  Heat a tawa and place the prepared paratha on it. Keep the flame on medium.
  10.  After 10 seconds, flip the paratha. Apply ghee/oil on the top side of the paratha and flip it. Let the paratha get cooked  from the oiled side until it is golden brown in colour.
  11.  Now apply ghee/oil on the top side of the paratha and flip it. Now cook the paratha on this side as well. press with a  spatula in order to cook the paratha evenly.
  12.  Take off the paratha from the flame and keep aside.
  13.  Prepare all the parathas in a similar manner.
  14.  Serve the paneer paratha hot with butter, tea or curd.
