The first drawback is that you can only get these at restaurants and eateries. The second one is that when you decide to get these at home, they get cold and soggy which is not what you expect from a naan. Now this is the time you wish you could just make these fresh at your home. Well, now you can. Today we have come up with a very easy to follow, simple recipe for homemade tawa naan. You can easily make these at your home, even if you are not very good at cooking. Yes, it is that simple. So what are you waiting for, let’s get started with the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • All-purpose flour- 3 cup
  • Oil- 1 tbsp.
  • Butter- 2 tbsp.
  • Yogurt- ½ cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Baking soda- ½ tsp.
  • Warm milk for binding the flour

1. To start with the dough, in a big bowl, add the flour, baking soda and salt. Mix all the ingredients well.

2. Now add the butter, oil and yogurt and mix it all again.

3. Now start adding the milk little by little, in the flour and prepare a soft dough. Cover the dough with a damp kitchen towel and keep it aside for 5-6 hours.

4. Before you begin with the naan making, take the dough and massage it to make the texture more even. But make sure to do it gently.

5. Now start making small dough balls out of this dough.

6. Add some extra flour on the rolling surface and with the help of a rolling pin start flattening the dough ball.

7. It is very important to add layers to your naan, so after you have rolled it a bit you need to fold the naan in half and then in a quarter so that you have a triangle. But don’t forget to add butter or oil to these layers.

8. Now add some more dry flour to the naan and roll it till you reach the desired size of the naan.

9. Now put the ready naan on a hot tawa. The naan will stick to it. After sometime check it with your fingers and if the top portion of the naan feels a little bit hard then sprinkle some water on it and flip the tawa.

10. Now let the naan cook over medium flame till the time it is cooked.

11. Once your naan is cooked, take it off from the tawa with the help of a knife.

12. Apply a generous amount of butter on these and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

13. Serve hot with your favourite dal or gravy.
