Raw Banana Chips Recipe

-

I think deep frying can make anything taste good. Like in today’s recipe, it’s raw bananas. Raw banana is not an ingredient that a lot of people are comfortable using in their recipes. But then that is probably because they don’t know about this easy peasy banana chips recipe. These chips are a great snack to munch on with your evening chai or while watching a movie. You can make these in a good quantity once and then store them in an airtight container for 2-3 weeks. These can also be eaten during fasts thus giving you one more reason to try out this recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Raw banana- 4
  • Water- 3-4 cups
  • Salt for seasoning
  • Black pepper powder for seasoning
  • Oil for deep frying

Procedure:

  1.  Fill a big bowl with water.
  2.  Peel one banana and with the help of a mandolin, slice the banana into thin chips directly into the bowl filled with water. By doing this the banana slices will not turn dark.
  3.  Now peel the next banana and repeat the same process with this one as well.
  4.  Now heat up oil in a kadhai. Take out some banana chips from the water and soak the excess water by patting them in between clean napkins or kitchen towels.
  5.  Now add the banana chips to the moderately hot oil and cook on a medium flame. Make sure that the oil is neither too hot nor too cold. Also, avoid overcrowding the kadhai.
  6.  Stir the chips in order to avoid sticking.
  7.  Once the chips are done you will notice that the bubbles in the oil start getting lesser and lesser. The banana chips will also change in colour and will become crisp.
  8.  Remove the chips from the oil with the help of a slotted spoon and let the excess oil drain on a kitchen towel. Sprinkle the chips with salt and pepper.
  9.  Prepare all the batches in a similar way.
  10.  Once your banana chips are ready, let them cool down completely and store them in an airtight jar.
