Miliaria (sweat rash/heat rash/prickly heat) or ghamauri as we call it in Hindi is a very common skin related problem, especially in summers. This problem may occur in almost every age group. This skin condition is very annoying and can be very painful sometimes. In order to stay safe from this problem, people try so many things like wearing cotton clothes or applying ice to their body, but this does not provide much relief from it. But along with all this, you must also try some useful home remedies which are very effective in treating miliaria.
1. Use sandalwood- If you are suffering from this condition then sandalwood can really help you in getting relief from the same. On one hand the sandalwood will help to soothe your skin and on the other hand it will make your skin super soft. All you need to so is combine 1 tbsp. sandalwood powder with some water to make a paste and apply it on the affected area. This will reduce the redness and inflammation to a great extent.
2. Neem or Indian lilac- Neem or lilac has been used for ages to treat several skin related problems and this one is no different. Neem has antibacterial and antiseptic properties which really help in treating miliaria. You can soak a handful of neem leaves in some hot water and grind them to make a paste and apply this paste on the affected area for immediate relief. In order to prevent this problem all together make it a ritual to take a bath with neem water on a daily basis all throughout the summers.
3. Henna leaves- You may have applied henna several times on your hands but did you know that when a paste of fresh henna leaves and water is applied on the body part affected with miliaria. 4. Wheat grass- Only a few people know that wheat grass has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties which make it a potent remedy to treat miliaria. You simply prepare a paste using fresh wheatgrass blades with water and applying it directly onto the affected area.
5. Yogurt- Curd is an amazing food item to include in your summer diet, but it is also very effective in treating miliaria. Yogurt provides a cooling sensation to the inflamed area and calms down the redness.
6. Baking soda- Baking soda is a great product when it comes to treating skin related problems. When every other remedy fails to work this is definitely going to work for you. Mix 2 tbsp. baking soda with rosewater to make a paste and apply it on the affected area. You can see your skin getting better after trying this remedy only after a few times.
7. Green gram lentil (Hari Moong dal) – Take some green gram lentil and soak them overnight in water. Next morning, strain the excess water and grind the lentils to form a paste. Apply this paste on the affected area and leave it on for a few minutes. Repeat this remedy for a few days or until you get relief.
8. Aloe Vera- Aloe vera is mainly used for treating skin related problems. So when it comes to treating miliaria we cannot skip this one at any cost. You can either use the fresh aloe vera gel or if that is not available then you can also use the store bought one. Just apply the aloe vera gel directly onto the affected area and see it working as magic.
