1. Not Flossing
We brush twice a day, but flossing? Not even once. That’s how we’re keeping our oral hygiene incomplete. Flossing is as important as brushing is. The bristles of the toothbrush cannot reach the inner corners of the teeth. There are food particles and bacteria trapped inside them. When they multiply, they can cause infection and cavities.

2. Using Too Old Toothbrush
There’s no point of saving bucks on the toothbrush and then spending a hundred on your dental treatment. Older the brush is, more bacteria it would have on it. You should change your toothbrush every two months. If you’ve suffered from cough and cold in between, change the toothbrush after you’ve recovered.

3. Brushing Too Hard
You’re cleaning your teeth, not the coal burnt utensils. They don’t require aggressive scrubbing to get the dirt off them. By doing this, you’re hurting your delicate gums and degrading the enamel. It can also lead to teeth sensitivity and gum receding.

4. Brushing Your Teeth Right After Eating
Don’t rush to the sink as soon as you have your supper. People might think that doing so is good for your teeth’s health. But in reality, it is not. It will lead to brush the acid in your teeth which your salivary glands secrete while eating. Wait for at least an hour after having your meal.

5. Eating Too Much Sugar
Sugar is the biggest culprit for your teeth’s health. Sugar is the primary food for the bacteria that breed in your mouth. They digest the sugar and release an acid which erodes the enamel and causes a cavity.

6. Consumption of Tobacco
Tobacco is the biggest reason behind the tooth decay. You cannot consume tobacco without damaging your teeth. And there’s no escape. Tobacco is worse than smoking. It can lead to oral cancer also! Tobacco is a no-no, not only for your oral health but also for your survival.

7. Eating Ice
People rejoice eating ice popsicles or ice cubes on a hot day. But little do they know that chewing ice can be very damaging to your oral health. Too cold temperature can damage your gums and degrade your enamel. Cold temperature, overall, is not good for your teeth.

8. Open Bottles with Teeth
Don’t try to be heroic. There’s a specially designated device for the opening bottle, bottle openers. Using your teeth to tear the tags from the clothes or to open the bottles is no great task. Your teeth are meant for just one thing, that is, chewing food. Don’t try to use them as a tool. You might end up injuring your teeth permanently.
