If you like chicken and Chinese food, then you are sure to love this recipe. Chilli chicken is a Chinese appetiser recipe. It comprises of fried marinated chicken tossed in sweet and spicy sauce and crunchy vegetables. A fairly easy and quick recipe to prepare at home. You can serve this as an appetiser for a party or as a side dish to accompany your elaborate Chinese dinner.
Here is the step by step recipe of the crispy chilli chicken.

Ingredients:
Marination:
Chicken- 250 gm
Chilli sauce- 1 ½ tsp.
Soya sauce- 1 ½ tsp.
Pepper powder- ¼ tsp.
Corn flour- 2-3 tbsp.
All-purpose flour- 2-3 tbsp.
Red chilli powder- ¼ tsp.
Salt- ½ tsp.
Seasoning:
Soya sauce- 1 ½ tsp.
Chilli sauce- 1 tsp.
Red chilli powder- ½ tsp.
Vinegar- 1 tsp.
Sugar- ½ tsp.
Vegetables:
Onion- 1, medium (thinly sliced)
Garlic- 2 tsp. (Chopped)
Bell pepper- ½ cup cubed
Green chilli- 2 (slit)
Spring onions- for garnishing
Procedure:
1. In a bowl add the chicken along with the soya sauce, chilli sauce and pepper powder. Mix the ingredients well and keep aside for at least 45 minutes. If you have time, try to marinate it for 2 hours. While the chicken is marinating you can chop the vegetables and do all the prep work.
2. Once the chicken has marinated add the corn flour, all-purpose flour and salt. Mix the chicken well so that the chicken is well coated with the flour. If you want the crust to be thicker then you can increase the amount of corn flour and the all-purpose flour by 2 and 1 tbsp. respectively. Also, add the red chilli powder and mix.
3. Now in a small bowl prepare the sauce. Add the chilli sauce, soya sauce, vinegar, red chilli powder and the sugar in a bowl. Mix all the ingredients well.
4. Now heat oil in a pan for deep frying the chicken. When the oil is hot enough and fry the chicken until crisp and golden brown in colour. Remove on a paper towel to drain the excess oil.
5. Remove the excess oil from the pan, leaving behind not more than 2 tsp. oil. Now add the garlic and sauté for a minute.
6. Now add the onions along with the capsicum and green chillies. Cook for a minute or until soft.
7. Add the prepared sauce to the pan and let it start bubbling.
8. Now add the fried chicken and mix it well with the sauce. Cook the chicken on high flame for 2-3 minutes and turn off the flame.
9. Garnish the chicken with chopped spring greens and serve it hot.
