But seldom do people have such facilities at their home and thus most people eat this melt in your mouth delicacy only when they go out to restaurants. But today I am going to share with you a paneer tikka recipe which does not involve the use of a tandoor or oven. You can simply prepare the paneer tikka on a tawa or pan without compromising on the taste. So without any further due let’s get started with the recipe.
Ingredients:
- Paneer- 250-300 gm (diced into ½ inch cubes)
- Capsicum- 1, large (diced into ½ inch cubes)
- Onion- 1, large (diced into ½ inch cubes)
- Tomato- 1, large (diced into ½ inch cubes)
- For the marinade:
- Hung curd/yogurt- 250 gm.
- Gram flour/besan- 4 tbsp.
- Turmeric powder- ½ tsp.
- Black pepper- ½ tsp.
- Dried fenugreek/Kasuri methi- ½ tsp.
- Coriander powder- 1 tsp.
- Cumin/jeera powder- 1 tsp.
- Chaat masala- 1 tsp.
- Garam masala- 1 tsp.
- Dry mango/amchur powder-1 tsp.
- Kashmiri red chili- 2 tsp.
- Ginger garlic- ¾ tsp.
- Lemon juice- 2-3 tbsp.
- Salt- ¾ tsp.
- Oil for cooking the tikka
Procedure:
- Â In a bowl, whisk the curd till smooth.
- Â Now add all the spices, gram flour and salt to the curd.
- Â In another bowl put all the diced vegetables and paneer pieces. Pour the marinade over the vegetables and paneer and mix gently.
- Â Place the marinade coated vegetables and paneer in the refrigerator for a couple of hours or overnight (at least 45 minutes).
- Â Heat a pan or tawa and add some oil to it. When the tawa is hot enough place the vegetable pieces on the tawa and cook them on a medium to low flame. When the vegetables are cooked evenly remove them from the flame.
- Â Now place the paneer pieces on the tawa and cook them on all sides until golden brown. (cooking the vegetables and paneer separately will ensure even cooking since the paneer takes comparatively less time to get cooked).
- Â Once the vegetables and paneer pieces are cooked, assemble them on a wooden skewer (or you can also use toothpicks).
- Â Sprinkle some chaat masala and drizzle some lemon juice on the tikka.
- Â Serve the paneer tikka hot with sliced onion and mint yogurt chutney.
