When we have leftover rice in your refrigerator, the only thing that most of us can think of making from it is some kind of fried rice, which may get quite monotonous and boring sometimes. But today we have come up with an amazing appetizer recipe using leftover rice. This rice cutlet recipe is a tasty and different way to give your leftover rice a makeover. So without any further due let’s get started with the recipe.
Tasty and healthy poha cutlet recipe
Procedure:
- Rice- 1 cup (steamed /boiled)
- Potato- 1, medium sized (boiled and mashed)
- Onion- 1, (finely chopped)
- Green chilli- 1 (chopped)
- Coriander leaves- 2 tbsp.
- Turmeric/Haldi powder- ¼ tsp.
- Red chilli powder- ¼ tsp.
- Cumin/jeera powder- ½ tsp.
- Coriander/dhania powder- ½ tsp.
- Garam masala- ¼ tsp.
- Gram flour/besan- 3 tbsp.
- Salt to taste
- Oil for cooking
Procedure:
- 1. In a bowl, combine all the ingredients (except for the oil).
- 2. Mix everything really well and check for the salt and seasonings. Add more if required.
- 3. Now wet your palms, take small portions of the mixture and start making patties.
- 4. When all the patties are ready, place them in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to set.
- 5. After 15 minutes take out the patties from the refrigerator and heat up oil in a pan for frying the cutlets.
- 6. Once the oil is hot, set the flame to medium low and place the patties in the hot oil. It will take around 3-4 minutes for the patties to cook on one side on a medium-low flame.
- 7. Once the cutlets are golden brown and crisp on one side, gently flip them and let them cook on the other side as well.
- 8. Once the cutlets are cooked, remove them from the pan and place them on a kitchen towel.
- 9. Serve the cutlets hot with your favourite chutney, ketchup or dip.
