Sattu or ground roasted gram is a staple of Bihar as well as other northern states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttrakhand. This is one unique flour that can be consumed raw, both in food items as well as beverages, either sweet or in savoury form. A large array of mouth-watering dishes can be prepared with this flour. But today we are going to share with you the recipe of sattu paratha. Loaded with lots and lots of energy this paratha will keep you energized throughout the day.
So without any further due let’s get started with the recipe.
Ingredients:
- Wheat flour- 2 cups
- Oil- 1 tsp.
- Salt- ½ tsp.
- For the stuffing:
- Sattu- 1 cup
- Onion- 1, small sized (finely chopped)
- Green chilli- 1 (Finely chopped)
- Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp.
- Mustard oil- 1 tbsp.
- Salt- ¾ tsp.
- Lemon juice- 2 tbsp.
- Ginger paste- 1 tsp.
- Fresh coriander- 1 tsp. (Chopped)
Procedure:
- Â In a bowl add the wheat flour, salt and oil. Rub all the ingredients together. Now start adding water to the flour and make the dough. The dough should neither be too soft nor too firm.
- Â In another prepare the stuffing. Mix all the ingredients mentioned for the stuffing in a bowl. Mix all the ingredients really well. add few tbsp. of water in the stuffing to bind it a little.
- Â Make small lemon sized balls of the dough and keep them covered with a damp cloth. Take one dough ball and roll it with a rolling pin. Put a spoonful of stuffing in the centre of the dough and bring the sides together and seal it.
- Â Dust the surface with dry flour and roll the stuffed dough ball to the desired size. But make sure that the paratha is neither too thick nor too thin.
- Â Heat a tawa and cook the paratha on a medium flame from both the sides. Drizzle some oil on the paratha so as to cook it evenly.
- Â Serve the paratha hot with curd or baingan ka bharta.
