Tasty and healthy poha cutlet recipe

Poha is not something new for us. We all love to have this Maharashtrian breakfast item for our breakfast and sometimes even with our evening tea. It is also one of the favorite food options for people who are very considerate of their diet or are dieting. But why just stick to the basic kanda poha when there is so much more that you make with it.

So today we are going to transform the humble poha into a tangy and spicy cutlet that you can make for your friends and family or serve it as a party snack as well. so without any further due let’s get started with the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Poha- 1 cup
  • Corn flour- 2 tbsp.
  • Potato- 3 medium sized, boiled
  • Lemon juice- 2-3 tbsp.
  • Mustard seeds or rai- ½ tsp.
  • Onion- 1 finely chopped
  • Red chili powder- 1 tsp.
  • Green chili- 2 tsp. chopped
  • Turmeric or haldi- ¼ tsp.
  • Fresh coriander- 2 tbsp. chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying

Procedure:

1. Soak the pour in water for 5 minutes and keep it aside.

2. Heat some oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds, chopped onion and cook them through.

3. Now add the chopped green chili, red chili powder and turmeric to the onions and cook for a few seconds.

4. Now in a big bowl combine the poha, corn flour and the boiled mashed potatoes. Add the prepared onion and spice mix to the mash and mix really well.

5. Now add the salt, chopped fresh coriander and lemon juice to the mixture and mix well.

6. Now dampen your palms a bit and start making the cutlets with this mixture.

7. Heat up oil in the kadhai for deep frying and once all the cutlets are ready, fry them in the oil until golden brown.

8. Take out the cutlets on a kitchen towel so that the excess oil gets soaked up.

9. Serve your tangy poha cutlets with your favorite chutney or sauce.
