When it comes to Chinese food one of the most popular and most loved dishes is veg Manchurian. Veg Manchurian consists of fried vegetable balls served in thick spicy gravy/sauce flavoured with ginger, garlic, soy sauce and chili. There are two variants of Manchurian one is with the sauce/gravy and the other one is the dry Manchurian, which is served mostly as a starter or appetizer.
If you are one of those people who always thought that making Chinese food is restricted to chefs only, then we are about to change your perception. Today we are going to share with you the recipe of the veg Manchurian gravy. This recipe is super easy to follow and the end result is finger licking good.
So without any further due, let’s get started with the recipe.
Ingredients  for the Manchurian balls:
- Carrot- 1 cup (grated)
- Cabbage- 1 cup (finely chopped)
- Bell pepper- ½ cup (finely chopped)
- Spring onion- ¼ cup (finely chopped)
- Black pepper- ½ tsp (crushed)
- All-purpose flour- 2 tbsp.
- Corn flour- 2 tbsp.
- Salt to taste
Ingredients  For the gravy/sauce:
- Green onion bulbs- 2 tbsp. (finely chopped)
- Ginger- 1 tbsp.
- Garlic- 1 tbsp.
- Green chili- 1or 2
- Soya sauce- ½ tbsp.
- Vinegar- ½ tbsp.
- Corn flour- 1 tbsp.
- Vegetable stock- 1 or 1.5 cup
- Black pepper- ½ tsp. (crushed)
- Salt to taste
- Sugar to taste
- Chopped spring onions for garnishing
Procedure for the Manchurian balls:
1. In a bowl, add all the ingredients mentioned for Manchurian balls and mix really well.

2. Keep the mix aside for 10-15 minutes.
3. Now shape the mixture into small balls and deep fry them till the Manchurian balls are golden brown in color.

4. Take out the Manchurian balls on a kitchen towel and let the oil drain.
Procedure for the gravy/sauce:
1. In a kadhai or pan, heat some oil. Once the oil is hot add the onions, ginger, garlic and chili to the pan and cook them on a high flame.

2. Add the vegetable stock to the pan and let it come to a boil. Now add the soy sauce and crushed black pepper to it. Let the sauce simmer for a minute or two.

3. Now in a bowl, mix the corn flour with 2 tbsp. water to make a paste and add this paste to the simmering stock, while stirring continuously.
4. Let the sauce cook till you get your desired consistency.
5. Now add the vinegar, salt, sugar and the prepared Manchurian balls and let it simmer in the gravy for a minute. Garnish with chopped spring onions.

6. Serve your homemade Manchurian with fried rice.
