Whole Wheat Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

The chocolate chip cookies that you get from this recipe are not the usual chocolate chip cookies that you get in the market. These are a healthier and tastier version of that. These cookies are made from whole wheat flour and have oil instead of butter in them. These cookies have a soft and chewy texture with a crisp exterior, which you don’t usually get with the market bought cookies. All these factors combined make this recipe is a must try for everyone.

So without any further due let’s get started with the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Whole wheat flour- 1 cup
  • Sugar- 3 tbsp.
  • Chocolate chips- 3 tbsp.
  • Oil- 2 tbsp. (olive oil or rice bran oil)
  • Curd- 1 tbsp.
  • Milk- 6-7 tbsp.
  • Apple cider vinegar/regular vinegar- ½ tsp.
  • Vanilla extract/essence- ½ tsp.
  • Baking soda- ¼ tsp.
  • Salt- a pinch

Procedure:

  1.  Before you start making the cookie dough, preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius/390 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.
  2.  Combine the milk, curd, vinegar, oil and vanilla extract in a bowl.
  3.  Now add sugar to the wet ingredients and whisk it until the sugar is dissolved.
  4.  Sieve the whole wheat flour, salt and baking soda directly into the wet ingredients. Add the chocolate chips as well.
  5.  Combine all the ingredients using a spatula at first and then use your hands to make a sticky dough. Do not knead the dough.
  6.  If the dough feels too sticky, then add a 1-2 tbsp. of flour and mix again. If the mixture is too dry add few tbsps. of milk.
  7.  Once you’ve got the right consistency, divide the dough into small portions, depending on how big or small you want your cookies to be. If you want flat cookies, shape them accordingly because these won’t go flat while baking. Apply some oil on your hands and shape them accordingly.
  8.  Grease a baking tray and lace the cookies on the baking tray. You can even place the cookies close to each other because they are not going to spread. But still, avoid keeping them too close to each other.
  9.  Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they are cooked to golden perfection. Make sure to keep the tray on the middle rack otherwise the cookies may get burned or get cooked unevenly.
  10.  Keep an eye on your cookies while they are getting baked. If you have flattened your cookies, they will get baked faster and will take around 7-10 minutes. So do keep a check on that.
  11.  Once the cookies are done, take them out from the oven and transfer the cookies to a wire rack and let them cool down.
  12.  Once the cookies have cooled down completely store them in an airtight jar.
  13.  Serve the chocolate chip cookies with milk, tea or coffee.
