Having a Shower in the morning is a hygienic necessity as well as a need to freshen ourselves up for office. But little do we realize that a daily shower can wreak havoc on our skin if we will not take care of certain things. What are those certain things? Let us know here:

1. Very Hot Water bath

Luke warm water is fine for a shower when it is cold outside, but bathing with very hot water can cause dry and itchy skin. Hot showers can also lead to skin Eczema. How would you know that the water is too hot and it is not appropriate for bathing? Melissa Piliang who is a dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic says that when water emits tons and tons of steam out of it, then that is a sign that it is too hot for a shower. Not just a skin problem, it is said that people who take hot baths continuously may end in decreasing in their reproductive capacity.

However, Pilang says that that does not mean that you will totally boycott hot water.

“First turn on your shower as hot as you want it,” she explains. “Let it get nice and steamy and warm in there, and after it’s all heated up, turn it down to a comfortable temperature and then get in.” This way you can enjoy the heat without irritating your skin,” she adds.

2. The soap you are using is harsh

There are too many soaps available in the market. It becomes difficult to classify which one is harsh and which one is good for health. Melissa Piliang says that soaps that contain antibacterial agents may bring skin troubles more than ordinary soaps.

“These soaps give you a feeling squeaky sensation because they strip the oil from your body. When oil is stripped from the skin, it gets exposed to hot water, whipping winds and dust that makes it drier and the result is scaled and skin eczema,” she said.

She said that oils act as a lubricant which enables hands to slide smoothly over our skin. Piliang stresses using fragrance-free soaps which contain added moisturizers. “Everyone’s skin is different, so you may need to try a few different products to find the one that’s right for you,” she said.

3. Too much scrubbing

Scrubbing can be too dangerous for your skin. Doctors advise using soaps only when one is covered in dust otherwise, they say we should use soap mainly in the armpits and groin.
Even after a sweaty workout, you do not need to use soap too often because water makes the most of the work. Scrubbing can kill good bacteria on your skin so you should use a milder soap instead of a harsh scrubber. These good bacteria prevent acne and eczema flare-ups, and yep, dry skin.

4. Not wearing shower shoes at the gym
