Along with that one of the most common under eye area issues is dark circles. You may want to avoid them at all costs but they sneakily enter your life and make it miserable. 1. Sleeping on your stomach- We all know that sleep deprivation or lack of sleep is the biggest cause of developing dark circles and puffy eyes. But there have been studies which suggest that people who sleep on their stomach are most likely to develop dark circles. Sleeping on the back is one of the most preferred methods since it helps in the proper flow of fluids throughout the body and thus preventing dark circles and puffy eyes.

2. Having a sodium high dinner- If you wake up with puffy eyes this morning then maybe it’s because you had a very salty dinner last night. When you consume sodium in excess, your body retains more water to dilute it, thus making you feel bloated especially on your face. In order to avoid a puffy face (eyes) in the morning avoid having salty food items for dinner.

3. Smoking- Smoking not only proves to be a health hazard but also fasten up the process of aging especially around the eye area. Smoking restricts the blood vessels and causes them to appear bluish. It has also been proven that nicotine from cigarettes leads to improper sleeping patterns, leaving the eyes tired and fatigued.

4. Rubbing the eyes too much- A person rubs his/her eyes in just one case and that is in the case of irritation. When your eyes are irritated, you will automatically start to rub them. But if you are in the habit of constantly rubbing your eyes it may lead to pigmentation. Being too harsh on the delicate skin around your eyes can also bruise them eventually making them appear darker. So, if your eyes are irritated wash them with cold water and if you’re still not relieved then consult a doctor as soon as possible.

5. Sleeping with your makeup on- If you are a makeup wearer you must be aware of the fact that it is never a good idea to sleep with your makeup on. It can lead to several skin related issues, dark circles being one of them. You under eye area is the most delicate one and leaving makeup on that area for the entire night regularly can damage it to a great extent. Thus, make sure to remove your makeup every night before retiring to bed.
