The besan halwa is very similar to besan laddu in taste. the only difference being the quantity of ghee being added to the halwa. The quantity of ghee in halwa is more as compared to that in laddu. The ingredients used in this recipe are very easy to find but the making will require a lot if elbow grease. Definitely, a must include the recipe in your Diwali homemade sweets list.

Ingredients:
- Gram flour/besan- 1 cup
- Ghee- ¼ cup
- Milk- 1 ½ cup
- Sugar- 1/3 cup
- Cardamom powder- ¼ tsp.
- Pistachios- 5-6 (chopped)
- Almonds- 5-6 (chopped)
Procedure:
- Â In a heavy bottomed pan heat the milk and bring it to a boil.
- Â In a heavy bottomed pan or kadhai heat the ghee. Once the ghee has melted turn down the flame to low.
- Â Now add the gram flour to the ghee and mix really well.
- Â Now on a low flame start roasting the gram flour while stirring continuously. You need to roast the besan for around 15 minutes or until the gram flour is fragrant.
- Â Soon after the gram flour is roasted it will start leaving the ghee and you could see the two separating.
- Â Once the gram flour is roasted you can start adding the milk little by little in batches. Keep the flame on low and add 1 cup of milk at a time. Make sure to stir the halwa continuously while you are adding the milk.
- Â Now add the remaining milk and cook the mixture while stirring continuously.
- Â Now add sugar to the halwa and mix well.
- Â Make sure there are no lumps and keep cooking the on a low flame for 5-6 minutes.
- Â The halwa will now start to thicken up and thus you need to be extra sure that there are absolutely no lumps in it.
- Â Now add the chopped dry fruits and mix again.
- Â When the halwa starts to leave the sides of the kadhai it is ready.
- Â Turn off the flame.
- Â Serve the halwa hot or cold depending on your preference.
