Mushrooms are a great substitute for meat for the vegetarians. The texture of mushrooms is very similar to meat and the nutritional value is too high making it the perfect addition to your vegetarian diet. Now most of the mushroom recipes belong to the gravy or sabzi family. But apart from that mushrooms can be transformed into mouth-watering appetizers too. Today I am going to share with you one such delicious appetizer recipe and that is the mushroom tikka. The recipe is fairly easy to prepare and without any further due let’s get started with the recipe.
Ingredients:
- Button mushrooms- 250 gm
- Ginger garlic paste- ½ tbsp.
- Carom seeds/ajwain- ½ tsp.
- Red chilli powder- 1/4tsp.
- Garam masala- ¼ tsp.
- Turmeric/Haldi powder- ¼ tsp.
- Gram flour/besan- 3-4 tbsp.
- Oil- 1 tbsp.
- Salt as per taste
- Chaat masala- ¼ to ½ tsp.
- Coriander leaves- 1 tbsp. (chopped)
- Lemon wedges as required
- Onion- 1, medium sized (thinly sliced, for garnishing)
Ingredients:
- Â Rinse the mushrooms really well. put the mushrooms in a strainer and let all the excess water drain. Wipe the mushrooms dry with a kitchen towel.
- Â Trim the stalks of the mushroom a little and keep the mushrooms aside.
- Â Now add all the spices including the carom seeds, oil and salt to the mushrooms and let them marinate for 30 minutes.
- Â Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
- Â Once the mushrooms have marinated, add the gram flour and mix well.
- Â Spread the mushrooms on a baking tray and bake them in the oven for 25-30 minutes.
- Â During the cooking time, you can turn the mushrooms once after 15 minutes for better cooking.
- Â Once the mushrooms are cooked, take them out on a serving plate and fix one toothpick in each of the mushrooms. Or you can also serve it in a bowl.
- Â Sprinkle some chaat masala and squeeze some lemon juice on top of the tikka.
- Â Serve the tikka with coriander chutney, thinly sliced onions and roti/naan.
