Navratri Special: How To Make Mango Mastani

Mango Mastani is a Maharashtrian Drink, which was after the queen Mastani of Pune. And what could be better than a royal-named cuisine, to consume during the auspicious occasion of Navratri. This recipe can be made anytime, even if you are fasting during this Chaitra Navratri. Now that we are talking about mangoes, we are sure you must be fantasizing about its mouthwatering taste and must have bundled up a bunch of mango dishes in your mind by now.

Mango Mastani is a thick mango drink, with ice cream and lots of dry fruits. Once consumed, it keeps you fuller for longer and is healthy for you as well. It’s an easy to make a drink which does require a lot of time, and you can even switch your meal of one time with this oh-so-delicious drink. You can add your preferable flavored ice cream to enhance the taste, but here, in this recipe, we have used plain vanilla ice cream.

Mastani is basically available in numerous flavors, other than mango, and the best outlet to have this drink at its best flavor is at Sujata Mastani, which is in Sadashiv Peth, Pune. It’s a must try summer dessert if you are visiting the city.

Preparation Time: 15 MINUTES
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
• 3 large Mangoes or 3-3 ½ cups of chopped Mangoes
• 1 ½ cups of chilled Full Cream Milk
• 2-3 tablespoons of Sugar
• 6-7 chopped Pistachios
• 6-7 chopped Cashews
• 6-7 chopped Almonds
• 4-8 scoops of Mango or Vanilla Ice Cream (flavor as per your choice)
• 4-6 Glazed Cherries to garnish
• 4-6 Ice Cubes

How To Prepare:
1. First, take the large mangoes to peel and chop then or take the chopped mangoes, and put them in a blender jar. Keep a few mango cubes for adding to the garnish.

2. Now add sugar and full cream milk into the blender and blend the ingredients together into a thick and smooth milkshake. Adjust the sweetness as per the requirement.

3. Now, in clean glasses, put in ice cubes at the bottom and then pour the mango milkshake up to the ¾ level of each glass.
4. The add 1-2 scoops of ice cream on top.

5. Garnish with remaining mango cubes and chopped almonds, pistachios and cashews.
6. Lastly, top with the glazed cherries on the very top.
7. Serve chilled with a spoon and a straw alongside.
