  • Garlic paste- 2 tsp.
  • Sugar- 2 tsp.
  • Active yeast- 1 ½ tsp.
  • Curd- 3-4 tbsp.
  • Oil- 4 tbsp.
  • Water- ¾ cup
  • Garlic- 2 tbsp. (chopped)
  • Coriander leaves- 2 tbsp. (chopped)
  • Kalonji- 1 tsp.
  • Salt- 1 tsp. (or as required)

Procedure:

  1.  In a cup or bowl dissolve the active yeast in ¾ cup warm water. Also, add the sugar as well.
  2.  Once the yeast starts to froth (it is activated), add the garlic paste, curd, salt and oil to the yeast. Now add the flour and knead it to get a smooth dough.
  3.  You can also add some water if required.
  4.  Cover the dough with damp kitchen towel and keep it in a warm place for 2 hours to let it proof.
  5.  After the resting time, the dough will double up in size. Now divide the dough into medium sized balls.
  6.  Cover the dough balls with a damp cloth and set aside for another 20 minutes.
  7.  In a plate or bowl take the chopped garlic, coriander leaves and the kalonji. Mix the three ingredients really well.
  8.  Dust the rolling surface with some flour. Place a dough ball on the rolling surface and dust it with some flour as well. Flatten the dough ball a little and sprinkle some of the garlic, coriander leaves and kalonji mixture on it and press with your fingers.
  9.  Roll the dough disc with a rolling pin to make a naan of about 5-6 inch diameter.
  10.  Heat a tawa and place the prepared naan on it. Cook the naan until cooked and browned on one side. Pick the naan with a chapati tong and cook the other side directly on the fire.
  11.  Smear some butter on the naan and serve it hot with your favourite curry, chhole, etc.
