“Healthy” is one word we are hearing way too often whether on social media or otherwise. Healthy living, healthy eating, healthy lifestyle and a lot more. What I get, out of this health frenzy is that the idea of being healthy is unnecessarily hyped, wrongfully marketed and totally misunderstood by the people.
When it comes to healthy eating, you will always hear some self-proclaimed dietician advising you to eat less, to cut out on calories and in general to eat “healthy”. But in reality eating healthy is far away from what you are being told. Today I am going to tell you some “real life” healthy eating habits which are much easier to incorporate as well as sustain in your daily life.
Follow These 5 Healthy Habits For A Healthier Life
1. Eat everything- Yes, we mean it. But when we say eat everything we are also asking you to be considerate enough about the portion size. While eating, one thing that can make a huge difference is the quantity or portion size. Lack of knowledge about the portion size is one of the main reasons for weight gain.

2. Heating the oil for too long- When we are cooking, a lot of us have this habit of heating the oil for too long almost till the time it starts to smoke. But what we are not aware of is that the more we heat or reheat the oil it starts to break down thus destroying the beneficial antioxidants and also leading to the formation of harmful compounds. Though the smoking point of different oils varies from each other, it is always better to just heat the oil and not smoking it.

3. Stop counting calories- It is good to be considerate of your diet but keeping a strict eye on the calories and counting every single calorie is a big no-no. your focus should be on eating healthy and not counting the calories. 4. Healthy doesn’t have to be boring- Most of the people equate healthy with tasteless and boring food, which is not true. Healthy doesn’t have to be boring if you know how to spice up things. Keep looking for recipes which are healthy as well as tasty. Eating healthy doesn’t mean that you have to only eat steamed vegetables. Instead, you can stir fry the vegetables with some garlic and spices to match to your taste buds.

5. Create a balance- Eating right is also about creating the right balance. For example, if you are planning on eating a heavy dinner which is full of carbs and starch then make sure that your lunch is much lighter and healthier. You can also have a healthy snack such as a handful of nuts, fruits or homemade protein bars before dinner. This way you will eat less for dinner thus cutting down the extra unhealthy calories.

6. Do your preparation in advance- You are more like to eat healthily and cook often only if you have ingredients prepared and stored nicely in advance. For example, if you went for grocery shopping and got a lot of fresh vegetables, as soon as you come home chop and store the vegetables and fruits in such a way that they are easily accessible to you. that way you will directly reach out for the healthy options instead of lurking after unhealthy choices.

7. Have a big lunch- The breakfast is definitely the most important meal of the day and one should never skip it. But on the other hand, a lot of people do not feel hungry enough to have a hefty breakfast and end up having a glass of milk or a small portion of fruit. Now since you didn’t have anything substantial in the morning it is important to have a filling lunch. Also, your metabolism is at a high during this time of the day and thus it is easier for the body to digest the food quickly and efficiently.
