Many Indian families have this trend to give tea to their toddlers. It is believed that tea improves our digestion and protects us from the seasonal illnesses. It is also said to boost our immunity.
Yes, we do agree to these benefits of consuming tea. But if you’re thinking that a cup of tea will have the similar benefits for your kid, then you’re sadly mistaken. If you add more milk to the tea to dilute the effect of tea, then let me tell you, this is your failed attempt. Experts have revealed that tea is very harmful to kids.

Tea is Meant for Adults
Tea can disrupt the healthy calcium production of infants and toddlers. This can lead to calcium deficiency in their body. Weakened bones are one of the problems that arise due to improper calcium production in the body. Regular consumption of tea can affect your brain, muscles and nervous system adversely. It also hinders the structural growth of your child’s body.

Adverse Effects of Tea On Toddlers

  2.  Body pain especially in the abdominal region.
  3.  Lack of concentration, irritability and other behavioural problems.

Is It Okay to Add More Milk to The Tea?
Some of the mothers believe that adding more milk to the tea and giving it to their toddler can do harm to the latter. They believe that the milk in the tea will replenish the calcium in their toddler’s body. But the matter of fact is that even a drop of milk changes in composition once it’s added to tea.

The casein protein found in milk intermingles with catechins of tea, which is an essential flavonoid found in tea. This mixture acts like laudanum (A narcotic mixture containing morphine and opium) in our brains. This the primary reason why having tea is an addictive habit. And addiction is no good, be it at any age.
