Janmashtami is an important festival and most of the people observe fast on this day. On this auspicious day people celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna by going to temples, taking out processions while fasting. So to keep you full of energy we bring to you four extremely tasty and easy to make recipes which are sure to keep you up and going so that you can enjoy the celebrations of Janmashtami even when you are fasting.
1. Chia Pudding
Ingredients
- Berries
- Diced Apple 1 bowl
- Tangerine slices 1 bowl
- Honey ¼ bowl
- Chia seeds
- Almond milk 150ml
- Coconut cream 150 ml
Directions
In a mason jar take 3 table spoons of chia seeds. Soak these seeds in 150 ml of almond milk.
Add 1 tbs of honey. Stir it well and close the lid and put it in refrigerator 12 hours.
Take out the mason jar and pour the mixture into glass. The chia seeds have swollen and look like small transparent balls. Take out some of this mixture in a long glass. Add a layer of diced apples on this layer. Again, put a layer of chia seeds and top this layer with a layer of tangerine slices. Finally put a layer of chia seeds and add 150 ml of coconut cream. Top with berries of your choice. Serve chilled.
2. Apples and Dates Smoothie
Ingredients
- Apples 3
- Dates 10 (deseeded)
- Almond milk ½ liter
- Cinnamon
Directions
In a blender jar put apples, dates and almond milk. Blend it till you get a nice thick smoothie. Sprinkle cinnamon on top and serve chilled.
3. Kiwi Smoothie
Ingredients
- Kiwi 1 peeled and diced
- Banana 1 peeled and sliced
- Honey 2 tbs
- Greek yogurt ½ cup
- Ice cubes
- Directions
- Mint leaves
Directions
Take a blender and put all the above ingredients and blend till you get a thick nice smoothie. Pour the smoothie in a glass and add mint on top and a slice of kiwi on the glass rim.
4. Berry Smoothie
Ingredients
- Blueberry yogurt 1 bowl
- Cranberry juice 1 bowl
- Cranberry and blueberry1 bowl
Directions
Pour cranberry juice into the jar of a blender. Now add dried cranberries and blueberries to it. After this add blueberry yogurt and blend till the dried berries are crushed nicely. Pour into a glass and enjoy.These are some of the recipes which can be used during fasting on Janmashtami and which are full of flavor and antioxidants.
