How to Control Dandruff With These 5 Natural Remedies


Dandruff is something we all dread. It is such a pain and more so in the Winter months! Dandruff is a condition which can put you in an embarrassing situation and can lower your confidence. It ain’t a serious condition and that is why you should shell out money at a salon only once you are done with curing it at your home with the ingredients that are readily available in your kitchen. So don’t rely yet on the hair care products that may not be effective enough to deal with your dull, frazzled, lifeless and dandruff prone hair. Instead go for these home remedies that are cheaper, easier to use and effective. Here are 5 home remedies that you can use at your home without having the discomfort of going out to a salon:

Banana, Lemon, Honey, Olive Oil Hair Pack

  • 2 bananas
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice


Squash the bananas till there are no lumps. Add olive oil, lemon juice, honey and make a paste. Apply it thoroughly on the scalp and hair. Let it remain for half an hour and wash it with warm water. Repeat it once every week to get the best results. It helps fight off dry hair and lemon in the hair mask is particularly helpful in treating the dandruff.

Coconut Oil Hair Pack

  • 3-4 tbsp Coconut Oil

Put coconut oil in a pan and heat it till it becomes slightly warm. Rub the warm coconut oil in the scalp with the tips of your fingers and thoroughly massage for about 10-15 minutes. Let it remain for half an hour and wash it off with a mild shampoo. Repeat it once a week for best results. Coconut oil prevents dandruff from sticking out on your scalp.

Yoghurt And Egg Hair Pack

  • 1 cup yoghurt
  • 1 complete egg (normal hair)/ 2 egg yolks (dry hair)/ 2 egg whites (oily hair)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice


Whisk the contents and apply it from the roots to the tips of the hair. Let it stay for 15-20 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. Apply it once every week.

It nourishes your hair, moisturizes it and thus prevents dandruff

Yogurt And Egg Hair Pack

Aloe Vera Hair Pack

  • 3-4 drops of Eucalyptus Essential oil
  • 3-4 tbsp pure aloe vera gel


Mix aloe vera with eucalyptus oil and apply it generously from the roots to the tip of the hair. Let it stay for 45 minutes to 1 hour and then wash it off with lukewarm water. Repeat it twice to three times a week. Aloe vera removes bacteria and dirt from the scalp which promote dandruff.

Honey, Yoghurt, And Lemon Mask

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Half cup yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp honey


Mix all the ingredients together till a smooth paste is formed. Apply it on the scalp and massage it properly. Let it stay for half an hour and wash it off with a mild sulfate free shampoo. Apply it once or twice a week and you will see noticeable results. The lemon juice is acidic in nature which will balance the Ph levels and thus prevent dandruff.
