Home Remedies for Skin Whitening (How To Lighten Skin)

-

Skin Whitening Surgeries are medical procedures which reduce the production of melanin in our skin. As we know that the melanin is chiefly responsible for the dark colour of our skin. The skin tissues are restructured to lessen the production of melanin. Skin whitening surgeries include many methods like laser skin whitening therapy, cryosurgery, chemical peeling, dermabrasion and microdermabrasion. Among all these chemical peelings is the most commonly used skin whitening surgery. This technique brings permanent respite from the hyperpigmentation issues. The details of the skin whitening surgeries are mentioned below

  • Microdermabrasion

In this technique, a beauty expert sands your skin using special instruments. This leads to the emergence of a new and smoother layer of your skin which is brighter than the previous one. It makes use of tiny exfoliating beads to remove the outermost layer of the skin. Microdermabrasion successfully eliminates problems like dull skin, brown spots and age spots. It, however, is not able enough to get rid of birthmarks and moles.

It brings little changes in your skin colour. During the procedure, tiny crystal of exfoliating beads are sprayed on your skin to remove the outermost skin. It is more or less similar to exfoliation and skin rejuvenation. The skin might look a bit flushed after getting the treatment done. But it usually recovers in one week. After getting the treatment, it is advised to stay away from sunlight. Use a good quality moisturiser as your skin might feel dry. Don’t apply makeup for at least 24 hours after the procedure.

  • Dermabrasion

This technique is the primitive version microdermabrasion. In this technique, the superficial layer is removed using the surgical procedure. It sharpens the edge of skin to even out the irregularities. It is done on the specific sites only instead of an entire face. Usually, a wire brush, diamond wheel or a sterilised sandpaper is used to remove the top layer. Since the procedure involves the peeling off top layers of the epidermis, it might accompany with minor bleeding. Newer technologies are now introduced with little complications.

  • Laser Skin Resurfacing

This technique can make you look younger and radiant if you’re having blotches, acne scars and fine lines on your face. This technique efficiently removes the top layer of your skin. The laser beams are used to dissolve the molecular bonds of the damaged skin cells. The layer is removed until a clearer and smoother one is achieved. Laser therapy can easily eliminate the rough and blotchy skin caused by overexposure to the sun. There are many types of laser treatments available depending upon the type of laser beam used, viz. CO2 lasers, Erbium lasers, Fraxel laser, etc.

Doctor will target your wrinkles around the eyes and mouth. General anaesthesia will be required if the whole face has to be treated. After the procedure has been done, the doctor will cover the treated area of your face with bandages. You can apply petroleum jelly on your skin to avoid sores. You might experience some swelling after your procedure which is normal.

Sleep on an extra pillow at night to reduce the swelling. Use of any acne medication is prohibited after going through the laser treatment. It usually takes 14 days to recover from the after effects of laser treatment. If you have a very dark skin, then you might not be the right candidate for the treatment. Dark skin can absorb more radiations than the lighter ones, hence being unsuitable if you have dark skin.

  • Cryosurgery

The last resort is the cryosurgery. Let me first explain the term itself. The term cryo means involving cold or rather extremely cold. This procedure is adopted when all the other methods fail. This technique makes use of liquid nitrogen. The best part about this treatment is that it is safe for all skin types. Liquid nitrogen being too cold alters the melanin in your skin. It makes it rise and sit on the uppermost layer of your skin, which will be peeled off within few days. This makes your skin look fairer and shinier.

This technique has worked well for many people but still some skin pigmentation issues have been reported in many people lately. A phenomenon called hypopigmentation or the white spots are seen in those who underwent this treatment. It is better that you contact your dermatologist for the suitable treatment for your skin pigmentation issues. Cryosurgery is very expensive costing around $200 dollars for each spot.
