Work Hard!!! Work Safely!!!

Where do you work? Probably a software company, a call center, bank, some private firm or a government office, I guess…  These are the white collar jobs. Jobs where you work on a monthly salary!! These jobs are primarily computer-oriented. You perform tasks on computer, sitting comfortably on a rolling chair the entire day.

No job is easy… The blue collar jobs involve great physical labour. These kinds of jobs include electrical work, masonry work, loading and unloading goods, carpentry and much more. Such jobs are prone to problems like accidents at workplace, risk to life and much more.

But are the desk jobs safer? No!! Not at all!! Persons sitting in front of a computer the whole day are prone to eye problems and headaches. Sitting at one place the complete day may result in body pain and many other problems

Every job poses threats to those who are doing the job and hence each job is to be done with certain precautions.

Some precautions at work:

• Keep safe distance from computer screen: Maintain a distance of at least 20 inches from your computer screen. If you sit closer, you can’t work properly as you are straining your eyes. It may also lead to eye problems in the long run.
• Right posture for sitting: Don’t sit with your back bent. Keep your back straight while you’re sitting. Make sure that you can stretch your legs. If you can’t, take walk around and come back.
• Use wrist rests while typing:  When you type on the keyboard, make sure that your wrists are not in constant touch with the edges of the table. Otherwise, it may cause contact stress and build pressure in the blood vessels. So use a wrist rest while typing.
• Use safety signboards: If you’re doing a work which requires others’ attention, use a signboard. If you are repairing a switchboard, put a signboard warning about electric shock so that people stay away from that place.
• Attention to detail: You must know every single detail of the machines you use at work.

You can work peacefully and efficiently only in a risk free environment. So eliminate the risks and work safely!
